Marco Bed
When you think of Wrought Iron Beds, you don’t usually think of contemporary bedroom furniture. More likely, what comes immediately to mind is something from your grandmother’s house or a quaint, old bed and breakfast where you once vacationed. Iron beds are usually decoratively scrolled and heavily embellished for a fanciful, romantic look. Oftentimes, they give a room an old-fashioned look and feel. This may be a desirable look for some, but minimalists and modernists won’t enjoy this aesthetic. These beds usually just don’t lend themselves well to modern design. That may be the perception held by many consumers, but it’s not necessarily the complete truth. There’s more to wrought iron than just granny’s old bed.
Iron and metal beds are being seen in the most contemporary homes these days, thanks to some creative thinking designers at companies like Hillsdale Furniture. Though many of their designs live up to the traditional reputation that wrought iron has garnered, there are also quite a few exceptions to the rule. Some of their beds and headboards are strikingly different and would blend seamlessly with any modern bedroom furniture.
The Marco Bed is one of Hillsdale’s more modern iron beds. It has an arching headboard and footboard with an unexpected V-shaped motif in the center. Its finish is unusual for an iron bed as well; it’s brown rather than the traditional white or black. It’s not fanciful in the least. The strong lines have a masculine appeal. This bed challenges all your notions about metal beds.
